Project background

GLT Delta Kft. is a multi-generational family business, whose history dates back to 1985 and is connected to Pécs. During the nearly 40 years of operation, the company has undergone significant development and growth, and today it has become one of the leading building engineering enterprises in the South-West Hungarian region. Today they are present not only in Hungary, but also in many countries of Europe, including Austria, Germany, but also in Latvia, for example. GLT has always been at the forefront of innovation, which is why they have been awarded several times and this is perhaps the main secret of their success.

With the generational change, the business gained new momentum, as young people brought new approaches, procedures and technology to the life of the company. Recently, a new production hall has been built in Szigetvár, which foreshadows further growth.

The company's owners feeled the time is ripe to implement a modern, cloud-based ERP system that can be integrated with external applications, and to modernize IT solutions supporting business processes, in order to ensure more efficient and transparent operation of the systems and to be able to serve the needs of future expansion. Based on the preliminary discussions, we felt the need to analyze some points of the company's internal processes in more detail in order to fully cover all emerging needs during the possible implementation of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP system. We set aside two days for a more detailed overview of business processes. With the help of users, we outlined exactly how GLT Delta Kft.'s business activity is structured, and we identified some problems that are system-independent, so the solution will not be the ERP solution used, but the change of processes.

Based on the analysis, it was clear that the many insular, partly outdated and unnecessarily overcomplicated solutions could not ensure development. For the concept based on Microsoft Business Central, we tried to stay with the use of standard, out-of-the-box functions as much as possible in order to ensure the cost-effective sustainability of the system.

After assessing business processes and adopting a conceptual design based on Microsoft Business Central, Tetra Business Solutions Kft. started the implementation process in early September 2023 and we were able to ensure the live launch on January 2, 2024 according to the project schedule.

Currently, most of GLT Kft.'s business processes are already implemented in the Microsoft Business Central ERP system, which is approx. used by 25 users.

In addition to using the basic system (Finance, Sales, Purchasing, Warehouse Management, Inventory Management, Project Management), it is worth mentioning some Business Central customizations:

Barcode tracking of warehouse and project inventory processes with mobile application on the phone (supplement to the standard mobile client)
Approve purchase documents on a line-by-line basis
Project wizard: a solution that supports the creation of projects, project warehouses, project items, and dimensions
Electronic banking

In addition to these, the basic system provided solutions for several other processes used in the construction industry , and certain processes were automated with individual development.
One of the curiosities of the implementation was that the company's petty cash register is managed by the 99-year-old Aunt Sári, who learned how to use this module of Business Central and is most likely the country's most senior Business Central user right now.

The young and ambitious owners and leaders of the company fully supported the implementation of the ERP system during the project, as they see it as the key to the future, among other things. Their immediate plans include further development of the system, connecting it to other applications, and involving new companies in the use of the system.
